Laser Hair Removal

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is the process of hair removal using exposure to laser pulses that destroy the hair follicle root.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, laser hair removal was the third-highest non-surgical aesthetic procedure performed in the U.S. in 2016. More than a million people are undergoing pulsed light and laser hair removal treatments annually.

If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should not pluck, wax, thread, or use hair removal products for at least six weeks before treatment.

Who is a good candidate for laser hair removal?

We’re able to treat all skin types on the Fitzpatrick Scale. Darker hair is treated more effectively while treatments performed on red, blonde, and gray hair are generally not as effective.

Are there side effects?

Side effects are mild and temporary. Some of the most common side effects of laser hair removal include discomfort, redness, swelling, and pigment changes. These symptoms can be reduced by following the recommended skin care instructions before and after the procedure. For tips on pre-care and post-care, visit our tips page.

How much does it cost?

The cost of laser hair removal is dependent on the area.

How many laser hair removal treatments are required?

Every client is different, and so the number of treatments needed will vary. However, it’s important to understand that hair grows in three stages: anagen, telogen, and catagen. For laser hair removal to be most effective, it needs to be applied during the early part of the anagen stage, when the hair is actively growing. As a result, multiple sessions will be needed in order to guarantee treatment occurs during that stage of growth. Sessions are spaced about a month apart to accommodate the hair growth cycle. This repeating method provides optimal hair reduction in the selected area.

Who performs the treatments?

All of our treatments are performed by state-licensed laser technicians and estheticians.

Is it permanent?

Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved method for permanent hair reduction. Because hormones play a large role in an individual’s hair growth, results may vary from person to person.
